They've been on a real weird incest kick for the past few years, not to mention all the overly perfect main character guys surrounded by harems. I'm actually missing the slice of life invasion from the K-ON days.

It has to be a sub-genre in light novels now, right? Because I can't seem to go one light novel adaptation without one sibling character wanting to do dirty things with the other. It got to the point where some series make it a running joke.

I should have said I think it's hilarious that they always have a technicality to make it not real incest.

That's when it's funny. But you get those ones, where they are like half-siblings so somehow that's cool. Weirdos.

Are you mostly referring to manga currently?

I've been following a lot of anime recently, up to the point where I start seeing patterns. Pattern number one always seems to be any anime based on a light novel that sells itself on how cool the main character is will eventually have at least a hint of sibling or cousin squeaking. Sword Art Online, No Game No Life, Chaika the Coffin Princess, Mahouka, and so, so many more. Chaika turns it into a running gag with the sister being deadpan nuts, subverting the trend, which is also pretty sad because that's basically saying "man, isn't all this fetishized sexual taboo wacky!?"

Manga is pretty much the same old nowadays, it never seems to shift too heavily with trends because how important originality and hooks are for that industry.
