Phones are just like any other technology. It changes so fast you need a new one every year or so. The cell providers are also realizing this, and have new plans that allow you to get new phones in as little as 6 months instead of the standard two years.

I hated my LG G because it was full glass and didn't agree with my hard floor and tendency to drop it. :\

I've been using this Sony Ericsson Walkman since December 2007
Although I did use a Nokia 6233 for about 12 months or so, I kept this phone and went back to it. Has never let me down and all I've done is replace the battery once.

The first thing I'm getting is a case that has a lip on the front side, so even if i lay it face down, the glass doesn't touch. I've done that with every smartphone i've had, and they've all stayed flawless.

Before my current phone, is the one I had for 3 1/2 years. It was a Samsung Reality? I think that was the name. It wasn't a smartphone but it a touchscreen with a slide out keyboard that I do sorely miss, I prefer that way over a touchscreen keyboard.

I had an LG Envy for a while, and it had a slide out keyboard. They are nice

It's a phone and that's all I need it for. I did use it to play some music while mowing the lawn and stuff ages ago but I don't bother much now.
Plus I've dropped it plenty of times, got it wet and all sorts of things and there still isn't anything wrong with it.
I'm not interested in using the internet to ban random people or have my spelling "corrected" for me
