I've played the Wii U, and it's just an overpriced and ungainly consolized DS. It doesn't offer anything new, so don't try to play that card - the touch screen itself is severely dated, not to mention completely useless. Not one game has found an amazing way to use that thing yet.

Kinect has more imagination and potential usefulness for the future of gaming than anything the Wii U can offer. Too bad it doesn't work worth a shit though
I know you're not, but other people do. I played a lot of Skyward Sword and Mario Galaxy on my Wii, and before I got my GameCube a lot of GameCube games.

I don't think it is...I haven't played all of the games, but there are some that use the touchpad..

Kinect sucks balls, simple as that.

Kinect is just broken as hell. I don't know if they'll ever get it worked out correctly. I think the real problem with a piece of tech like that is that it's limited by it's $100+ price tag. If the Kinect was like a $500 device (which no one would really buy), then I could see it actually working really well.

Nope, I definitely wouldn't buy it. I mean, granted it's alright. I just never use it, I see most people use it for Skype chats and using it as a mic. (Which gets annoying on KI hearing everyone screaming)

I couldn't imagine using it for chatting - doesn't it pick up all the game noise and shit too? I remember someone using the old Kinect one time while we were playing CoD and he sounded like he was in a damn wind tunnel.

No asking for help here Flava. The Wii has quite a bit of games that I find enjoyable.

The old Kinect was like that, the newer one isn't bad. Depending on where you place it, if it's right in front of the TV, definitely will collect game noise too. But if it's sitting a bit away, it'll work just fine. And thankfully it doesn't sound like that anymore, it sounds better now.

Yeah, because you have bad taste in games

Seriously though, people that don't buy video game stuff bought the Wii. Ninty got lucky and tapped a market that no one else could reach. However, that market is now pretty much the cheap iOS and Android gaming market, or better known as the ADHD crowd that just needs a quick fix and can't stick with anything.
The problem with Wii U, other than the obvious (underpowered, small HDD, terrible online connectivity, overpriced and useless controller, etc) is that it was billed as a hard core machine, but Ninty has obviously gone back on that. They don't know where or how to market it to anyone and it clearly shows. When a AAA Mario 3D title can't even help move units, you know there is a problem.

Have they released all that bullshit interactive TV stuff for the bone yet, or is that still on hold? I've not heard anything about the fantasy league stuff that they were touting so heavily back when they were promoting the system.

We all know the Wii was a casual system, and it's biggest seller was the Wii Sports game that was bundled with it. I do believe even with the massive sales of the system itself, it also has the lowest attach rate of games sold ever. 70 million systems sold don't really mean shit when each user only owns one or two games - which is just a testament to all the damn shovelware that was put out on that thing.

    Gypsy, back me up here.
100% fact. Anyone that brings up Wii sales is trolling and they know it.

There's a reason I find them for $10-20 every other garage sale.

Anyway more on point about the Wii. It's a console that requires more effort. There's just soooooo much shovelware on it but imo there are plenty of true gems worth playing. The first party stuff is what it is I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about some pretty cool exclusives, mostly rpgs and horror games as well as some fairly unique games in general. The DS is kinda similar, but with a bunch more games that are actually good. The high shovelware content is pretty much the same though. Also the Wii-Mote pisses me off. The best games let you use a gamecube controller...

That market also thinks the Wii U is an attachment for their Wii that they don't need. Just sayin'...

Yeah, those mindless drones that bought the Wii because it was the "thing to do" can't differentiate between the Wii and Wii U. Ninty really needed to name it something else.

Yeah that ended up being a huge fail on their part imo. But also what you said is very true, a lot of that market is gaming with their phone playing angry birds and minecraft now.

Wish I could find a nice Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn though
