Serious question for crush and Elmdor - does the netplay function on either of those emulators actually work really well for online gaming? I'd love to play some Contra or TMNT 2 with some buddies of mine.

We managed to get Snes9x working once and played through Super Contra. So yeah it does but we tried for ages to get it working...

I don't actually think it's supposed to be that difficult. : IIRC we tried with ZSNES for a good while before giving up on that.
