This pretty much sums up my experiences playing against hardcore shootan dudes online.
I would like to think it's mostly lag, but I suspect that my reflexes have dulled with age.

Oh there are enough people around the same skill as me, or close enough anyway. But yeah, the vets really kill it for the rest of us.
And the game's matching system is seriously fucked up...like it's really unbalanced 75% of the time

I don't remember ever having fun on MoH's online. The only online multiplayer games I've enjoyed are Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Gears of War 1-3.

Pretty sure MoH mp uses the Battlefield engine Maybe I'm wrong idk. It's definitely different to the single player engine.
Danger Close/DICE.

Single player is rather sluggish for sprint and moving, mp is faster. No prone for mp...only crouch. They look and feel different games.

I honestly only bought it cheap for Frontline (you mentioned it to me iirc). And I was expecting the main game to be complete shite but it doesn't seem that bad. I'm definitely more into it than any of the newer CoD incarnations.

Maybe I like it because it isn't popular?
I'll probably get sick of it soon though, these last 2 trophies are a real grind for me
