    Okay, so I take it it's somewhere around a GTX 780 paired with the latest i7 or the AMD/Radeon equivalents.

    That PC will probably last you through most of the current generation, since it's already stronger than PS4/Xbone hardware if I'm not mistaken. So not necessarily overboard, just futureproof'd

    I can run shit perfectly on my current machine, but I fear for the time when next-gen stuff will start getting more demanding in 2+ years time.

    I had something similar happen to me when I was younger. Turns out I'm allergic to nickel, and whenever my belt buckle touched my stomach it would start to cause a rash. Repeat for months without younger me really knowing what was going on, and it got pretty bad.
