I have never been able to gain heaps of weight, regardless of what I eat. I think I'm still around 80 kilos atm.
Which is ok for a guy around 6'.

Basically I'm slim with strong bones

A bike. With no pedals or chain drive. The kid uses his feet on the ground to push him along.
It is a type of velocipede.

    Bicycles are velocipedes too.

They are actually becoming quite popular again. Better idea than training wheels as the kid learns a sense of balance which is the most important thing.
He can upgrade to a normal bike later.

I don't know why you haven't noticed them before

    Velocipede isn't a dinosaur, silly!
It's a kind of millipede that moves really really fast.

No different to walking or running

Small children usually need to be pushed if they try to pedal uphill.
Plus you don't get the little injuries from feet slipping off pedals and the like.

I would imagine it would be different, because you're not walking or running, you're pushing with your legs.

And I've never noticed then before because I've never seen one, even when looking at bikes the other day. Either they haven't hit Canada yet, or they aren't big in my town.
