They'll probably just buy another laptop...they have 4 atm
This was my laptop that we've had since 2008. I gave it to them to use in 2010. It had an install of 7 I put on it in 2009 when it was first released. It shipped with Vista Basic and chugged, a lot. It has a Celeron 1.8GHz single core, 80GB HDD and shipped with 1GB RAM, I bumped it up to 2GB though. It's still slow, but does what they want it to.

    Oh, that sounds bad.
The pos my parents have is a dual core AMD 2.1GHz (or maybe a 2.2 ) with 4GB ram and radeon gfx. It would probably be ok if I could actually do something about it.
But no, like their cars it will be run into the ground and probably just stop responding completely one day, or explode in a fiery death.

Dunno, I read that it was more than $130

Gran Turismo 6 is the first entry in the long-running racing series to feature microtransactions.

Sony confirmed pricing details for the entirely optional microtransactions, which are available in the form of in-game credits.

Credits, which can be used to purchase cars or items, will be sold in increments of 500,000.

Players can also earn credits by competing in races or event challenges online or offline.

Credit payouts will increase as users complete higher ranked challenges and races.

"Users have the optional choice to purchase in-game credits in increments of 500,000 through the PS Store to unlock content faster if they prefer to do that rather than earn them through gameplay," Sony said.

"We do not require players to purchase or use purchased in-game currency."

Full pricing details are listed below.

    500,000 credits - $4.99

    1,000,000 credits - $9.99

    2,500,000 credits - $19.99

    7,500,000 credits - $49.99

Pricing details for individual vehicles was not provided.

However, a video leaked shows that one of the most expensive vehicles--the Jaguar XJ1--will sell for 20 million credits, or more than $130.

This information is based on early code of the game, meaning final pricing may change.

Gran Turismo 6 launches Friday, December 6.
Source is gamespot, I think. I'm just reading this somewhere else though.

When companies can do this, it's no wonder they dropped the online pass bullshit. £7.99 vs people paying £100 to get a bloody car.

It's just the way things are going. Pay for this pay for that, at least with this idea (atm) you can earn credits in game and get stuff.
But I'm sure that'll change, maybe just for the odd super exclusive thing to begin with.

I don't really have a problem with dlc, as long as I can get the good stuff bundled on a goty/ultimate edition down the track.

But having good dlc as download only and never bundled is a bit stupid...it will have to be pirated once online support is gone.
Which sucks for collectors, or even just fans of certain games.

I don't want to pay for anything online, just grab some free updates when I need them. Fuck everything else.

I had some friends saying that Sony wouldn't allow Micro-transactions on a game like Microsoft allowed for Ryse and Forza, I guess those friends can eat their words now.
