Only reason I want a Wii U is for Monster Hunter.![]()
SO guess what! Everything you thought you may have known about parallel addressing was a scam. Whoever taught you that the addressing and data bits have to be in order from A0, A1, A2, etc only said that so you could grasp a theoretical concept with the skill as you would a physical concept.
Give it a shot. Write a ROM with the Addressing bits randomly placed. Now read it back with the exact same wiring. Your file is a carbon copy even though the ROM may not have stored it in the order that you have held so dearly to.
Every single bit of your memory is fully accessible. Every last one.
It's not uncommon for Nintendo to be completely carried by their portable systems when they release a weak home console. Just look at the Gamecube. Most of their profits during that time were from the DS and it's exclusives. It's a very similar situation this time around too. I mean hell the 3DS has already long passed lifetime sales of the Wii and PS3 over in Japan(don't know about rest of the world). Plus Pokemon X&Y(a Nintendo IP) sold over 1.7 mil in a single month. I don't think Nintendo is stressing about the Wii-U.
THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.
I doubt you'll have to ever remember that. It would only come into consideration if you were to design a communication protocol rather than just toying with pre existing devices. If you were to design your own cartridge based on obscure RAM or something, then yeah, it may help you route traces on the board. Otherwise, there is no reason not to stick with the common methods.
Ahh, okay. I find electronics to be interesting, but I don't think I'll be designing anything myself anytime soon, or probably ever.
Still, would still eventually like to get into ROM programming. Like I said I would a thousand times.I still need translated versions of Phantasy Star Gaiden and Phantasy Star Adventure on cartridge for my collection.
