I've just got to Cid's village actually.

Not sure who to use in this one, I normally have Cloud, Red XIII and Barett. Who I swap out for Cid as soon as he's available. Or should I keep Barett? I mean his attacks are long range, Cid's aren't are they?

You should have a long range materia I think by now? I would swap out Barret. I like Nanaki! He's all around good with magic and physical offense. I find Barret boring.

It's a good place to do it actually. Some decent variety of monsters around there (Good for Final Fantasy anyways) You're gonna need it for that boss umm Materia Keeper? I remember it being tough anyways cuz he heals himself I think when he gets low on HP for like a huge amount and also casts trine on you. Ouch. At least you get a counter attack materia from it.

Had no problems with Materia Keeper. I think I might be quite a high level for the area I'm up to.

My best FFVII save where I had around 60 hours of play time, around level 80 I believe. My party was Cloud, Red XIII and Cid. I always use Barret until I get Cid then swap over. I've always liked and always used Red XIII. I can't imagine anyone actually using Cait Sith, and I don't see the point using Aeris at all.

Well Aeris no for obvious reasons however I did it once just to get her final limit and stuff - the only thing I've never been able to do is get the score in that shooter roller coaster for her Umbrella weapon.

First time through the game I used Cloud, Cait Sith and Yuffie which I've heard are regarded as the 2 of the worst characters you can use

I try to switch it up every time I play but use Cloud, Aeris and Barret up until the first visit to the Gold saucer which is still pretty early on. That way It's enough to level Barret to kill Dyne in a couple shots and Aeris to definitely get Seal Evil which is incredibly handy in the temple of the ancients (especially against that wall boss)

Vincent isn't all that great either until his final limit and even then
