Dug out my old Euro copies of Soul Reaver 2 and Defiance thanks to this discussion, switched the language to French out of curiosity, and realised that they're fully dubbed into the language (and possibly all of the other European languages included on the disc too, though I didn't check). IT TOTALLY COUNTS AS STUDY.

Also, agree with Gare here. I thought Soul Reaver 2 and Defiance were both definitely worth a go if you like the first Soul Reaver. Actually, I enjoyed the whole Legacy of Kain series. Even Blood Omen 2.

I think it goes like this: SR1 was the best in the series with the open ended exploration and megaman upgrades and just good times and exploration. And ALL THIS STORY! Not to mention everything that can be mentioned about atmosphere blah blah. It's fucking good, I play it every year. Has some of my favorite voice actors too.

SR2: Continues the great story and sort of kind of improved the flow of combat, plus infinite Soul Reaver whenever you want it, and it's HUNGRY! Linear story now, no exploration or secret goodies like SR1, but still a very playable game, and I liked it.

Defiance: Black sheep of the family. Throws out everything that made Soul Reaver great like the exploration, puzzles, multiple weapon types, reasonable explanation for shifting realms. Everything really, but in turn you get the end of the series and a combat system that I have to admit is one of my favorites and is very fluid, if not very complex. The ending is pretty wtf, but it's memorable I suppose.

I actually enjoy all the SR games and I'd even suggest playing Defiance, you can get it from GOG, but yargh would probably be better.

I just love SR1 and can't wait for the HD remake some fans are making. They're even recreating the half completed content which is cool.

To be honest the LoK series just oozes atmosphere so much I can easily overlook any and all of its flaws. Seriously.

Yeah the atmosphere is incredible, which is funny considering that it's about the opposite direction SK was going to take it.

I know, I know. ._. If it helps, this isn't my first run through the games, and I've already heard the glorious English voice acting many times. It's not like I'm playing it for the first time with a foreign dub or anything.

Though my friend and I did that with dozens of Western movies in Japan. Iron Man 3, Monsters University, Brave, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo... Watched all of them for the first and only time with Japanese dubs. Language geek lief~

This, basically. The first Soul Reaver was about the only one that I would consider to have been an all around outstanding game at its time of release. But the story, art design, voice acting and general atmosphere are so cool that I can put up with gameplay that isn't always top tier material.

Swimming in Soul Reaver for the first time will always be one of my most cherished memories. I remember the trailer had a huge Sea Monster in the area before the Drowned Abbey and swimming made me terrified because I was always waiting to run into it.

My biggest memory of NWN is of buying it brand new and finding that the CD key in the box didn't work. Had to use a cracked key even though I bought it legitimately.

Good times. Loading times are pretty dodgy, and it's not a perfect game in lots of ways, but again, so much atmosphere~
