Ahh, cool, yeah I was mainly concerned about the battle engine. Because I liked Xenogears combo/deathblow system a lot.

EP1 had a pretty shoddy barebones battle system that needed LOADS of work. It was often too easy and devolved into the equivalent of just mashing "attack" over and over until things die.
EP2 had some good ideas but it ultimately made battle a little too tedious and potentially time consuming for such a plot heavy game.
Gradual tweaks and learning from things lead to Episode 3 which had a pretty great battle system.
