It is, it's just very time consuming. Some of the loot you need for the final item crafting quest is so tedious it's annoying. I'm talking not only super rare drop items that you need like 5 of, but also rare as hell enemies that are hard to come by. The other daunting one is collecting 300 (maybe 250) types of monsters, but that's actually fun since it involves morphing monsters and seeing what they can all do.
I stopped playing around the 70+ hour mark, with the intentions of picking it back up again soon. I got basically all the trophies minus the two mentioned above, and I think there's a few involving the casino (i just never spent any time there).
And yeah, it's totally old school JRPG - I miss those games.
