128 new NSMB Wii levels in this high quality mod. But there's a catch -- at this time in order to play the mod, you need to have the retail NSMB disk. Purportedly, the team behind this doesn't support piracy (and yet the only way to play this is on a modded system - go figure). You have to load the mod through Riivolution, in the Homebrew Channel. The riivolution app itself, if you don't already have it, can be had here , and you put that in your SD card's apps folder. The Newer SMB Wii files, which can be downloaded at
www.newerteam.com, go in the SD card root directory.
Installation guide, for those who need more detail than that, is here .
Here's a link to the release trailer on YT. This looks exceedingly well done for a homebrew mod.

In the interest of full disclosure, I've only played the first level and couldn't tell you yet whether it's as good as it looks, or not. I haven't even gotten past world 3 in regular NSMB Wii, because every time I try to play it my daughter runs into the room and wants to do 2-player, which is a lot of fun, but also a hairball clusterf__k. So I end up never making any progress in the game. Now, the DS and 3DS versions I have 100%'ed.
One thing I can confirm is that Newer SMB Wii can be played on the classic controller. (the original game is wiimote only)
