My only disappointment, which seems to be the general consensus everywhere, is that online multiplayer requires Plus. Not that I have any intentions of cancelling Plus anytime soon, I was just naively hoping that we weren't moving towards that generation of console play, where we keep having to throw money at them just to play games.

Not that I ever play multiplayer anyway.

Also, when Tretton said that used games would continue to be allowed the exact same way they are now, that we aren't going to be throttled with always-online DRM, that they aren't going to check for an Internet connection while playing SP games, and that they would continue to allow game sharing, a little piece of me released how perverse it is when the crowd cheered so loudly. As consumers, the video game industry has been shitting all over us recently, and when having things stay pretty much the exact same as they are now is cause for celebration, something is seriously wrong.

I was a tiny bit tentative about picking up a PS4 at or near launch. This just convinced me. If you continue to listen to your customers the way you are right now Sony, you can have all of my money.

Playstation - 4
X-box - None. oh god that was horrible
In my defense, when I posted that they had just wrapped up the little boxing match they had going and landed a decisive knockout right around the "no super intrusive DRM shenanigans" bit.

But then it just kept going.

It was horrible. It was like watching a bear maul a quadruple amputee.

Yeah, pretty much my thoughts. I'll (probably) be holding off on the PS4, but when the time comes for me to have to upgrade my gaming setup I'm happy to know there's a non-PC option out there which doesn't require absurd amounts of red tape between me and my legally purchased ~30 to 60 dollar games. The PS+ thing is a potential let down, but they aren't making you pay for the service they launched all those years ago, it's instead grown into a fairly functional and impressive setup. And if PS+ keeps putting sweet sale and IGC related icing on the pay-for-online cake, I consider this a *small* price to pay, no matter how begrudgingly I might be paying for something that was (and should be) free. At this point there's not much reason to not already have plus. The only possible difference is that I'm going to have to shove it on my main account instead of splitting it with someone. No huge loss.

Plus it's one flat rate across 3 systems. If nothing else it'll give me an excuse to fire up the PS3 once in a while and maybe sink some money into a Vita at some point to enjoy the back catalog of IGC I'll accumulate in the coming months/years.

Also, ha!
