Well feel free to use it if you like it. But don't feel obliged to use a translation I wrote just because I wrote it. It's true that I've been studying Japanese a lot longer than you, but translation ability isn't just about your ability in Japanese.

I hate being allergic to chocolate-flavored stuff...

    ... Except chocolate itself, apparently.

You're welcome. It helps me too~ Anything in Japanese is good input!

You may. Actually, two of my Japanese friends here call me 恵理姉さん without a shred of irony. One of my other exchange student friends is so jealous. :'D

Eh, I'll keep my version for now. I'll have to take responsibility for my translation choices.

Yeah, I suppose you're right about that. I know some people maintain that translation isn't creative activity, but it really is imo. Borderline creative writing, in fact.

Those people are, to put it politely, wrong. Perhaps if you're translating between very, very similar languages like Italian and French it's not particularly creative, being that direct translations are possible in most cases there. But when the languages involved are Japanese and English, which are as different as night and day, any good translation will generally entail about 50% translation and 50% rewriting. I think if you're not relatively talented at writing, you don't have a chance of being a good Japanese < > English translator. Well... maybe for legal documents and suchlike. But not for anything creative.

Speaking of birds, best Youtube channel ever. I pretty much watched all of her videos in one sitting.

She later named the stray fox Todd.

Oh, interesting. Those are all miles outside of my field of study, but Greek has always been interesting to me due to my having a few very close Greek friends~

Are you being sarcastic? I think I haven't taken good care of it at all. I feed him a lot though.

But he (or she) has gotten very friendly now. When I first got him he wouldn't stay in one place at all and wouldn't eat anything when you were near his cage (by near I mean a 2 meter radius). Now he eats from my hands.

Tell that to all the fansubbers / manga translators that put out awkward-sounding literal translations all the time... I mean, I have no right to diss others, but I know English well enough to realize when something feels unnatural.
