If you're looking at losing weight, not eating anything isn't the way to go. You should be looking to limit the quantity that you eat if you're overeating, or diversifying what foods you are eating if you aren't getting a wide variety or if you're eating unhealthy (drinking a lot of pop, eating lots of potato chips, high sugar foods or a lot of high fat foods). Couple that with some basic exercise and you'll start seeing some results, which will vary depending how "overweight" you are. Then go for a walk (or jog/run if you're so inclined) and get some exercise if you aren't already. If you are, increase the amount you've been doing. I've heard stairs are amazing, if there are some you can go up and down multiple times a day.
What really worked for a buddy of mine was buying smaller plates. He used to weigh ~300lbs, and every day for dinner he would have two dinner sized plates full of food. So he bought smaller plates meant for children and would eat two plates of that instead -- his mind was still teling him he was getting two plates worth, but he wasn't quite eating as much, and since most of that original second plate was overeating anyways, he never really felt like he wasn't getting enough until he started exercising more. He was also massively overweight, though, so I'm not sure how that would apply to your situation.
That being said... dieting sucks. And it's best to start when you aren't feeling sick. But if it doesn't make you hurt, hungry, or feel like shit, then it's not working. My $0.02
