    In short, I hated Ascension
Seems about right, judging from what I've seen so far. I'm definitely going to be passing on any more GOW titles right now.

In case you don't know who he is, he's a Japanese rock guitarist who's biggest inspiration is Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin, and dresses up like Jack Skellington and plays RHPS songs live. He was also in the movie Suicide Club, which is abso-fucking-lutely fantastic.
Listening to him right now. Seems pretty cool, I'll have to look for more of his stuff and check out this movie. I've never heard of him before.

And RHPS played a huge role in my teenage years. I haven't managed to get out to see a stage performance of it, mainly because any good performance is going to be in Vancouver or Victoria, and I basically have to commit myself to spending the night there just to take in a show, which I'm not a huge fan of. But yeah, you've just sparked a burning desire to watch the film again. And perhaps put on the soundtrack right now.

Oh man, you have got to see it live.... I was a fan in highschool, only because I was seeking Tim Curry stuff out (because the game Gabriel Knight made me a fan of him) but none of my friends even knew what RHPS was. I caught it one night on Comedy Central around Halloween of all things and fell in love.

When I was in college though, I met people who liked it and I went to a live show with a bunch of friends, however I went dressed in normal clothes, which is a serious mistake, hahahaha. I got made fun of in front of the whole theater (all in good fun) and labeled a "virgin" and had ash marked on my forehead. It was a total blast though - there's NOTHING like a live showing of RHPS.

And yeah, seriously check out Suicide Club/Circle - it's a pretty wild Japanese movie. It's one of those bat-shit-crazy movies like Battle Royale, Audition and Tokyo Gore Police.

Rolly is a badass though - I don't get to talk about him much since he's so Japanese-centric, but the dude can shred some serious guitar. Anyone who idolizes Led Zeppelin and David Bowie is good in my book!

I remember catching it on MuchMusic (Canadian version of MTV) back around 2000 and thought it was awesome. At least once a year I'll sit down and watch it. But yeah, somewhere around the time I was 14-15 I was in love, quoted it all the time, knew all the lyrics to all the songs, etc. It was nice escapism living in a do-nothing town.

I intend to see it live one day, but the opportunity hasn't presented itself yet.
