VBA Link 1.8

Hey. I am new to all this.
I have the VisualBoy Advance Link v1.8. I have been trying to trade pokémon between Pokémon Red and Blue. I am having trouble doing so on my computer. I have tried creating a network and then connecting another VBA window to it. And I have also selected the single computer option. Yet when I go into the pokécenter it still states that it is reserved for friends via cable connect. Why is this?

Pokemon red and blue are not GBA games and thus VBA link currently does not support them. Use TGB Dual for those.
