Welp.
See ya EP.
"I am... Sheik. One of the last of the Sheikah tribe..."
I'm failing to see the appeal of these games. They're good, but they're definitely not "oh my God amazing!" like I was lead to believe by everyone I know who seems to fellate the Jak & Daxter series. They're essentially a collection of mini-games with the occasional dungeon exploration tossed in, shitty controls ("let me strafe goddammit!" "fuck, where's the button to look forward?!") and generally forgettable level designs (I can't recall a single detail about any of the levels I've completed so far).
I think the biggest thing I've got against it right now is the only reason I've failed any missions thus far is because of time limits. Run away from a bunch of missiles? Okay, but if you fuck up even slightly you're gonna get blown up. Run through all of these rings? Okay, but if you even slightly miss a turn you're going to have to start way back at the beginning, and we're only going to give you a fraction of a second to realize where you need to go after running through the previous ring.
There's a bunch of stuff like that which is getting very, very frustrating. Nothing is actually difficult to do in this game, but they manage to create artificial difficulty by making it nearly impossible to get through many of these missions on your first or even second try. Which just frustrates me, it doesn't make me want to play the game even more to "get better."

I'm sure she appreciates all the thought you put into her Valentine's Day gift.![]()
I should specify that this is more for Jak 2&3. I actually enjoyed the first one quite a bit. I don't know why they changed to this faux-GTA style gameplay for the second and third games, but it was definitely a detriment to the series in my opinion. I would have loved more games like the first one.
The first one is in my mind the best. It was a simple jumper and fun. I got it when it first came out and back then it looked gorgeous, no load times. It was something special back then. As I've said never really bothered with 2, and when 3 came out I noticed some of those things too. I like the vehicles for driving in the desert, but absolutely hate the leaper and haven city stuff. Never had much problem with the controls, hell Darksiders which I recently did pissed me off to no end with its controls. I kinda like 3 (still nowhere near the first) but then again I played those two when they came out on the PS2 so it was a bit different back then.
