PASBR is pretty boring.![]()
Multiplayer was okay. I only tried a few random matches to get the necessary trophies before leaving it forever, but it was definitely decent. Single player is extremely repetitive -- it's the exact same 8 stages, even though there are twenty different characters and 19 stages. You always play the exact same 8 stages on every single arcade mode.
Also, since you can only get kills by using one of your Super Moves. That means there's no imminent death coming if you're getting your ass kicked -- as long as you can pull off a Super Move that kills people, you're golden. It also means that if you're having trouble landing a Super Move (and yes, some of them are difficult to aim), you're fucked. You can't kill the guys by using weaker attacks or anything like that -- if you keep missing, you're gonna lose.
It's not a terrible game, but it definitely only shines during multiplayer.
Yeah, it doesn't look like something I would probably really get into. Though I'll probably still get it for cheap if I can. I don't really like the whole only being able to win by using your super move. Although I guess it's kind of similar to SSBs having to knock people out of the level to win. I never really got into SSB either TBH.
With SSB, though, there was the adrenaline of "wow, I'm taking on a lot of damage here. I'm like, one attack away from being obliterated." If someone wasn't that great at the game, or had trouble landing the big hits but could get in a bunch of little hits over time, they could still rack up a couple of kills. They probably won't win, but they have a chance of taking out a few people over time. It also creates a bit of drama, once people start accumulating damage to the point where being hit with a single punch is going to send them flying across the screen to their death.
It's the kind of game that would have been great if I was 14 years old again and wanted a game to play with my buddies that we could all play at the same time in the same room. As a 24-almost-25-year-old who plays alone, it's very bland. There isn't anything here to keep a SP gamer coming back.
I agree with you. It seems like something that would be good for when i was younger and was always hanging out with my friends. I mean I do have a roommate who I could play it with. But it's one of those games that would be most fun with 4 players. The more chaotic the better.![]()
When it comes to 4-player free-for all fighting games. My favorite will always be the Power Stone series.Had many, many hours of fun with my buddies getting stoned and walloping each other.
