I think I was right in my fear about the name of Nintendos new system. The Wii sold 100,000 less units the week the Wii U was released, I bet out of those theres at least a couple hundred kids that wanted a Wii U and their parents bought them the wrong machine. Nintendo has even made a video explaining the differences between the 3DS/DS and that bigger version just to make sure people dont get confused.
Not to mention all the news casters who got it wrong before the U was released and journalists still confusing the two. I really hope Nintendo doesnt look at this and keep thinking Americans are still too dumb to release the Mother remakes hinted at by Itoi.

Think about it. This never came up with the Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, or Super NES. None of their names are any more distinct from their predecessors than the Wii/Wii U.

I cant explain it either. News castors of all people got it wrong I saw on kotaku. Maybe the marketting is just poor compared to the others? I also wonder too about graphics. I mean, are the Wii U's graphics as different as the NES to SNES or SNES to N64?

This actually looks... pretty good? I'll be following this with careful optimism, even though I think the original Slender is an overrated POS.

I am sure that there probably was some confusion in the NES -> SNES days. However, the Playstation number scheme is very straitforward, and the XBox 360 was advertised to death prior to release. I have seen little to none in terms of advertising for the Wii U. If it weren't for me browsing gaming websites, I probably wouldn't know the difference.
The Wii U is slightly ahead of the PS3 and 360 in terms of overall graphical power. Whenever the next PS and Xbox release it will be far behind just like the Wii was. However, having HD gaming this time will help it remain relevant.

Anyone else underwhelmed by the Steam Holiday sales this year? Of course there would be some repeats from the summer sale, but the games being offered just aren't all that great in my opinion. Usually the Flash Deals are pretty sexy if you can catch them, but even they aren't attractive this year. :-(
X-Com is one of the few good deals I've seen, but I already have it...

I more or less feel the same, but it's not necessary the winter sale's fault. It's just that there weren't many games that interested me personally. I got Darksiders 2 and The Walking Dead, that's about it.

I've bought quite a lot this time around. Max Payne 3, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City for £15 total were hard to resist, though I think the best deals were on competing sites. Skyrim was only a tenner on Gamefly last week and it activates on Steam anyway.

Overall, yeah. I'd say it's pretty underwhelming. They keep recycling deals through the voting and flash deals that have already been/will definitely be daily deals at some point. And almost all of them are those triple A titles that everyone interested already has.
The only things I bought were the Payday DLC for myself and the Skyrim DLC for my father. As it stands, I think anything else I'm even vaguely interested in is going to be a last-day purchase for whatever the default discount is.

The only thing I ended up grabbing was Dragon Age Ultimate Edition for $7.50. I thought that was a pretty damn good deal, as it contains Awakening (which is a great expansion) and all the little junkie ones I never got around to playing on console.
Oh well, at least Steam was easy on my pocketbook this year!

After a month's separation, I got reacquainted with my PS3 today.
Nice to see Namco finally gave up the whole shabbang in the latest patch for Tekken Tag 2. Kunimitsu looks fun, and that's just from perving over her bikini costume.
Went online on WWE 13 for the first time since having it. Proud to say I never got pinned once - I had two tag team matches where my partner was defeated, not me. And one in between, an elimination chamber match, where I was the one who stood tall. RKO's for everyone in that match, but I think I was playing against a bunch of children because their play-style was so predictable - they would taunt repeatedly, fill their momentum, then I'll just reverse their finisher and use my own. I know that cheapskate playing as Rock '99 was absolutely gutted at the way things turned out.
I put in Resident Evil again and I couldn't draw the same feeling from playing it as I had previously. I'm due to part-exchange this for DmC, it looks quite slick.

Wow, I didn't know old school rock was in WWE13. I wanted that game but unfortunately my ps3 stopped reading bluray discs :'(
