20+4, but yeah that is scary. The computer doesn't "need" the extra four afaik at least not in an OEM Gateway that I have. The included PSU only had a 20 pin connector and the mobo asks for 24.
I believe that the extra four pins on the 20 pin connector and four of the pins on a 8 pin connector simply add stability. If you want more Watts for your CPU, then the second connector offers that.

I suggest you carefully glue them together with hot glue, not super glue.
