Capture device suggestions

in order to make higher-quality LPs, i would like to know what TV capture cards that hook into the PC and record anyone here had used and had good results with. i would also like to know about computer Screen Capture software that is free.

help me out and you get to pick the first game i record with it.

If you mean stream component/HDMI to a PC, yes, that's what they're designed for.

Nah, all the capture software I've seen has video output, it wouldn't be very useful if you couldn't see what you're recording .
