New global SOPA in the works, TPP

Trans Pacific Partnership. A more obscure attempt to stop the internet, but seemingly the same major provisions of SOPA such as IP holders ordering websites be blocked at their leisure without due process. They're trying to push it as a trade agreement.

They plan lots of these all the time. I think I read somewhere that other than SOPA there are 5 more in the works. They want this to happen, and they seem to think if they bombard people with differently named acts that essentially do the same thing, people are bound to ignore at least one.

you know, i wonder, if they push people far enough with this kind of stuff is it possible that a war over control of the internet could start? that'd be pretty crazy but you never know, they seem to be rather stubborn about this lately, for a reason that may forever elude me, in the end its all quite stupid imo.

I think the war may have started not long ago. Do you remember the raids around the world against Anonymous group members? 25 of them were arrested and they were given the "drug cartel member arrest show-off". Just after that, the Interpol site was attacked (Anonymous' retalation) and so on... The SOPA/PIPA/ACTA guys want to have all our money and know everything about us but they don't want us to know about them or their shi**y ways to do business.

If we're going to fight over the internet this much and "how important content creator profiting" is, though I don't see Kurt Russell going bankrupt, for instance, then we're not going to reach "centuries" from now without a collapse happening first. Our era will end if we can't find more important shit to address. Meanwhile, we've found it, but we haven't gotten our priorities correctly organized in some time.
