Default Hot Wheels Turbo Racing freezes on into loading screen, anyone know of fix?

    Hello everyone,

I was able to find the save state that Gladiator had mentioned of on his website; the only problem is I do not know how to get it to work. I am using the frontend ePSXe Quickplay v0.2b and so far the only games I have not gotten to work are...

    Hot Wheels Turbo Racing
Star Wars Rebel Assault 2 The Hidden Empire

I would really like to keep using ePSXe 1.7.0 as my primary ps1 emulator because of this frontend, works very nicely too. I hope its okay if I post the link that I found to it http://www.mediafire.com/?ik1su0o4v1fwkw9

    Thanks in advance,
    HaloSlayer255

    P.S. Happy Labor Day!

Try using different Video Plugins and enable Special Game Fixes if possible in ePSXe 1.7.0. I think that's how I got it working for me. Love this game too btw

    Thank you for the quick reply A User, I am using the Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9 and have the game fix "fake gpu busy state" enabled, everything else I try doesnt get to that loading screen;

If you still have the configuration for your emulator could I take a look at it?

    Thanks,

This was on my old setup on my desktop witch has since gone the way of the candy wrapper. Trashed. I'll go ahead and try to duplicate the setup I had on this rig and I'll get back to ya. I'm sure I still got everything on a HDD somewhere. Until then other users might be able to help.

    Thanks, good luck.

Also that frontend I found with the mediafire link works good in my opinion, if you want to test it out.

    Thanks,

Thanks A User, I guess this thread has served its purpose, unless Gladiator finds this and could create a guide on how to use the save state for the ePSXe 1.7.0 emulator.

    Thanks,

Finally found my copy of HWTR I had backed up on to a DVD-R a while back ( Wasn't on my HDD so it took awhile to dig out). Also had the save state as you mentioned from Gladiator.

This is what I had to do to get it working but it has to be through ePSXe itself. I couldn't figure out a way to make it work using the frontend ePSXe Quickplay v0.2b.

    1. I had to change my video plugin to P.E.Op.S Soft Driver 1.18
( If the game loads for you at the inital startup using Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9 with the game fix "fake gpu busy state" enabled then it might work with that video plugin and game fix also.)
    2. No special game fixes enabled
    3. Copy the two save state files to ePSXe/sstates folder
    4. In ePSXe click File/Run ISO/Hot Wheels Turbo Racing
    5. Hit the ESC key to pause the emulator before the point where the game freezes
    6. In ePSXe go to Run/Load State/Slot 1

And the game should boot to the main screen that says "Press Start". Hope it works for you.

And I don't know if it was just me but the game wouldn't save using the memory cards so to save my game I just copied over the save state in slot 1

Using the settings you've described as well as the savestate on gladiator's site, I was able to get to the level/car select screen. However when attempting to start a race or go into the detailed car select screen the emulator crashes and gives an "opcode" error of some sort. I'm assuming this could possibly be due to my dated graphics chipset (~2004); I'll test it on my newer laptop later and get back to you guys on the results.
"I think that the problem with this video is it is highly derivative of many popular bands within the genre. Although when viewed on its own merits, it does have a deeper groove. However what it has in groove, it lacks in originality. One can't help but be reminded of such bands as Pearl Jam, White Zombie, Suicidal Tendencies and other bands that bear the mantle of so called "Alternative Rock". One is even reminded of Lorie Anderson when she wore curlers. Hehehmhm! This video speaks less to the heart and more to the sphincter. In closing, I think Korn would do well to learn more from -"

That would be my guess as well.
