What is the original Japanese game that was remade into Super Mario Bros 2(US)?

No it was older than Galaga....and definatly from Japan or China. The Aliens spaceships were 3 times the size of the Galaga ships brightly colored and reminded me of butterflys.

Dam thought that might have been it. Can't think of anything else...

Old Game I cannot remember?
It is a PC Game because the loading or installation screen of the game is a revolver next to a keyboard and a monitor.. Its a 3d-ish game and with shooting and a little bit of strategy. I'm pretty sure you navigate your character with your mouse (I could be wrong) and it kinda reminds me of metal gear solid 1 (ariel view). Anyone can help me out? I know its not much of a lead but I really want to replay this game. I played it when I was a kid in an old computer. Safe enough to say that it doesn't require high graphic demand (not even close). Its set in a pretty modern looking world reminds me of a setting between cops/bad guys..

Awesome post maybe someone can help me find a game iyv been looking for quite some time....its an old PC platformer probably from the 90's because i remembered trying 2 copy it on 2 a floppy disk lol....it had the same game mechanics as the old mario bros game where u had to hit the floor from the bottom to turn the enemy over..only thing is the main characters in this game were like hunchbacks or dwarves all i know is they were green and blue n they had little pics of their face atda bottom which changed with every stage...remember first stage was like a alley way n the enemies were bulldogs...hope this description helps oh more about the stages came to me now.. i remember a water stage a dinosaur stage where the boss was a dinosaur running across the screen and a lava world stage with a devil like boss

now i'm looking for an SNES title, part of the time you were a hero fighting, part of the time an angel flying around shooting bats. the first boss was a centaur or something that couldn't get you from one spot. there were trees that carried you over thorns and you could make things like earthquakes, lightening, rain, etc happen. as well as direct the village and get gifts. occasionally the people would get better homes and the civilization level would rise. sometimes they would seal up monster lairs which were blue circles.
