Some sets are a lot stronger than others. The current block is definitely in a power creep. Multiple cards from it are multi-format allstars. It will tone back down, it always does. Evidence to this is Ponder and all the Titans NOT being reprinted in M13. This is a good thing, the Titans were getting old. Ponder not being reprinted seemed inevitable. That way they didn't have to do any bans to deal with Delver and it's already banned in Modern. Though that is a bad thing imo.

That version of Jace is pretty much the only planewalker that is vintage playable though. Old cards don't fuck around.

A couple more see legacy play from time to time.

No, I don't think I did. All my gaming these days has taken place on the PC and the majority if those are stolen so I don't purchase games or consoles, etc.

You're right that it's a shortened form of もの. But it's a different もの to the one in そんなもんじゃねえよ. Verb / da + "mon" / "mono" is just a way of adding emphasis. Sometimes it has sort of a "neener neener!" / "so there!" feel about it (like... "知らないもん" = "I don't know, so there!"), sometimes it's similar to an exclamation point, and sometimes it's a bit softer, like an "after all" (as in the example I posted: "you always look forward to the dinner I make, after all").

It sounds quite childish / bratty in most scenarios, though, so probably not one you want to use personally. Especially as a guy. Still, worth keeping in mind, because it comes up all the time in anime~

Nah, I've got some AAA titles waiting for proper cracks, so I'll be set for a while.

It's not so bad. Just very different to English. I found Russian a lot harder, personally. And in many ways Japanese is easier than other East Asian languages (no tones like Chinese / Thai / Vietnamese, and substantially less grammar to learn than the grammatically similar Korean). I think most people could learn to read Japanese pretty well if they put the time in.

Haha, well it is just about the most useful language to speak natively. Being an English native speaker will open all sort of doors for you in nearly any country you care to visit.

    I see. Thanks!

I love me some of these nuances, honestly, I'm not sure why. Whether it's sentence-final さ, or asking a question with かい, or even やがる, (which actually popped up in Muramasa as なのに殺しやがった), it's all sort of fascinating to me.

    Well....
Personally, I understand Spanish enough to read it (and barely hold a conversation), because it's so similar to English
But yay for English being my native tongue.... now if I was trilingual.....
