Wow. That's dumb, they didn't do that. It's because all the games have a different storyline, thus they needed to branch off.

Obviously not if they branched them off...For example, Wind Waker comes after Ocarina of Time because the hero disappeared, and the land of Hyrule was cast into an eternal rain which caused the great sea. And the islands are the mountains of Hyrules. It's really easy to figure out if you just think about it.

It's cause we all had life-gains and we wouldn't stop gaining life, and we couldn't kill each other 'cause our creatures were protected against each other.
