In case the price changes in the future. i.e. you "buy" it when it's free for a week, it's yours regardless of later price changes. They have to tie it to your account whether you pay or not.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't like shiny boxes, but lately I've just stopped caring as long as I get to play my game.If there comes a day when download only services become the norm, I'll start to hate them, as I like being able to have physical copies of the games I really like. Until then, though, it's a neat alternative to have.
Also, it's just a great way to sell shit that otherwise might be difficult to sell. Cola tells me that the Ys games were quite a success when they went digital on Steam, while in the physical realm many games either go out of print or become rarities. A digital release can preserve all these classics, and having an "XY GAME 50% off" on the front page also raises general awareness of the game in question IMO.
But here I'm just repeating the same thing I told some dude on GameFAQs who said he would rather die than have a non-PSP, Steam release of Kiseki titles, even though said console is at the end of its life cycle...
