The advantage of collecting obscure things that like 5 other people care about is that when one comes up for auction on e-bay there's a chance no one else will notice it.

Doesn't need to be obscure.
Most people are dead...so whatever you're looking for it's pretty likely most people aren't interested, or don't notice.

Most people are dead...so whatever you're looking for it's pretty likely most people aren't interested, or don't notice.

Most of the stuff I'm looking for is always available (1-3 copies or so) for a somewhat inflated buy it now. It's very nice (but rare) when auctions pop up.
