Softmodded it, and it has sat for 6 months.

Definitely in terms of emulating and the power of the machine.

I aim to get one for about $10.

Get a modchip. They're really easy to install.
Less mucking around if you have a HDD failure, or want to upgrade your HDD.

But the Xbox has superior hardware......and the games have better gfx.
So you get everything you can for Xbox, then any exclusives for PS2

Apparently there is a firmware you just install off the memory stick, and it's done.

Back when I had one, you had to go through quite a bit to hack one.

Softmods are great if you want something cheap, but nothing beats a decent hardmod.
Dunno how many failed Xbox softmods I've seen, and they were ok for some time initially

Back when I had one, you had to go through quite a bit to hack one.

Yeah I remember the chic-hen process where you had to load a picture at the exact moment or it would lock up the PSP.

And you had to repeat the process everytime you rebooted.

Now it's basically a one button thing, and permanent.
