There's plenty of great FPS games that don't subscribe to the military concept or the whole "AMERICA, FUCK YEAH" mindset. You can have a lot of fun playing games that aren't for the CoD crowd. Things like ARMA are brilliant simulations of military combat that function somewhat akin to an RTS. Except you're only one unit and the other units don't have to listen to you. Then we have games like Mirror's Edge, Bioshock, or Penumbra. Eh, you can't really devalue an entire genre based upon what's popular in it.
Or the fanbase around it.
Otherwise we can say essentially the same thing about 2d platformers of yesteryear and the sonic fanbase.
And that's a whole bloody rant in and of itself.

Granted, the box itself is pretty sweet.
But the sand, Sprung, the sand!
And that's why Mafia II is worth playing. Provided you don't bother doing anything non mission related.
