Well, you could always go with the Breath of Fire games. Capcom! 1/2 on SNES, 3/4 on PSX.

Or the Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior games. Enix! 1-4 on NES, 1-3 on GBC, 4/5/6/9 on DS. And the spinoff DW: Monsters games on GBC/DS.

Or Earthbound. But if you haven't played that before, I'll have to hurt you. Or you could play one of the 8 billion romhacks of it.

Lufia 1/2... Star Ocean... Mario RPG... Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest? It's not really a normal FF game.

I can't get enough of Square, but before the 6th Gen Consoles, can you really, honestly say that Square hasn't dominated the RPG scene in one way or another.

Also, Tactics Ogre wasn't Square. Developed by Quest, Published by Atlus. Only the ports were published/developed by Squeenix, and that really just translates to localization (since the SNES version was JP only) and changing inputs slightly.
