Red face Anybody Else Mad About The New PayPal Security Measures?

I am. If you don't know, PayPal updated their Crap June 6th. The new Security Measures are (you have to upload):

    Photo Id (driver's license)
    a Utility Bill
your Social Security Number, and proof of your Social Security.

This wouldn't be bad, but it is the last 2 I cannot do. I don't have a Utility Bill, since I live at home, plus YOU actually have to be on it, it can't be your parents or anything. The other issue would be uploading your Social Security Number, and proof of your Social Security. It makes me a bit uneasy to do so for my SSN. Then proof of your Social Security seems to be more of a hassle than anything else. People on the PayPal forums are complaining about this. They said even though they did all of this, it still wasn't good enough and PayPal said to try again.

Although I'm currently not a paypal user, I just want to know if every paypal user has to do it or can they pass it?

Lol, I didn't have to provide any of that. My account has been verified and tied to a bank account for a long time though. I have no spending limit and don't have to wait for money to go in. So Paypal has been nothing but great for me.

I think everybody has to now, it is like an updated version of the TOS or something. I've had my PayPal for a few months and everything was fine, until their new rules.

i agree with everyone's comments - the company who runs paypal should have left well enough alone, what kind of person is crazy enough to put their SSN on the internet...i sure as hell aren't..i dont care who they are.
i hear elsewhere that the new security measure is so that paypal can report back to the IRS,which isn't fair for those of us who sell/and make little on ebay.(like me)

    lawl PayPal.
I don't use it, plus it would be easier for me just to get a debit card from the bank I go to, than go through the hassle this'll be.

I believe someone at Paypal should take the 45 seconds it took me to find this.

Asking for SSN's as ID is illegal.

I haven't had to do any of that and I make purchases/sell ebay items all the time; many of which I have done since June. Are these measures for new members?

well i've only used paypal a few times in the past for stuff on online games (rarely at that), and this? i forsee them possibly losing a lot of customers/accounts if they stick with this new "security measure".

definately won't be using paypal again from now on, mainly because its always been my aunts credit card i used and because there is no possible way she'd allow this to happen.

not if the IRS is involved...they want paypal to report their users revenues and such...talk about loopholes.

and jazz the new measures go for EVERYONE - i been using my paypal for years and now i can do bank transfers anymore(because it asks for the security id.)

There's an internet redirect virus going around. You are wise to not enter the info, in any case. Especially if others aren't needing to enter their info.

In any case, the article lists a site that can help you check for the virus.
