    Default PS1, PS2, PSP, Wii and GameCube Emulators help.

    Hello there fellas, Im kinda new to this forum and I have a question. I wanna start to get into emulators, cause nowdays I get bored with the present games, i mean some of the present games are good but not that good as years ago was, like the famous serie Final Fantasy which is one of my favorite games. But skipping that, i wanna know if my PC runs all these emulators i mention'd at least smooth if you know what i mean.

    My current PC specs is :

    Processor : AMD Six Core FX 6100 3.30Ghz
    RAM : 10GB
    Graphic Card : Nvidia Geforce GTX 550 Ti 1GB

    I know its not the best pc but i also know its not the worst, so please someone experienced in Emulators stuff can tell me if this PC is enough? I really wanna start playing the games that made history in the past years =D
    Waiting for reply, Thanks in Advance.

    On a sidenote, that's a ridiculous amount of ram and it's unlikely you'll ever use it all under normal circumstances.

    Back on topic though. Your computer should be able to emulate the consoles you've mentioned within the constraints of the capabilities of the emulators; for example PS2, Wii and Gamecube emulation haven't been perfected yet, though PS1 emulation is very good. PSP emulation is the worst at the moment, with few games running particularly well; you can check on JPCSP's official website for a compatibility list, found here; http://jpcsp.org/index.php?p=Compat&c=a

    For PS1 you'll want to use ePSXe 1.7, PS2 you'll want PCSX2, and Wii/Gamecube you'll want to use Dolphin.
    "I think that the problem with this video is it is highly derivative of many popular bands within the genre. Although when viewed on its own merits, it does have a deeper groove. However what it has in groove, it lacks in originality. One can't help but be reminded of such bands as Pearl Jam, White Zombie, Suicidal Tendencies and other bands that bear the mantle of so called "Alternative Rock". One is even reminded of Lorie Anderson when she wore curlers. Hehehmhm! This video speaks less to the heart and more to the sphincter. In closing, I think Korn would do well to learn more from -"

Without Pixels if you know what i mean? I heard about some Shaders but i really dont know how to use that. Also my resolution is 1920x1080 (1080p), can you help me with the perfect configuration of the ePSXe 1.7? Thanks in advance man

    Yeah that system (just like MaslowK said) is more than capable of running the emulators no problem, its going to be the emulators themselves (for PSP, Wii and GC especially) that are going to be holding you back, not your system.

    THAT IS BY FAR THE OVERSTATEMENT OF THE DECADE!!!

    seriously, a 3.30GHZ six core? that's the BEST CPU on the market! the only way you could go MORE overboard with that system is if you added 32GBs of RAM and a few hundred Terrabytes of 10k RPM HDDs in RAID and maybe an SSD or two!

    who told you that was a bad PC? whoever said that was WRONG!

    Plugins you say?

    I would recommend Pete's D3D Driver 1.77 for 3D games (such as the 3D final fantasy games), and P.E.Op.S Soft Driver for 2D games (such as the ps1 megaman x games, legend of mana etc).

    For Pete's D3D Driver 1.77 these settings should look the best;

    For P.E.Op.S Soft Driver these should look the best (can also adjust the "dithering" setting, shouldn't make a huge difference tho);

    Also, from my understanding Pete's OpenGL2 driver plugins look the best and are designed to take advantage of higher end systems (such as yours), however you're on your own configuring it; my PC is just a tad less powerful (1.6ghz single core cpu, 512mb ram, etc) so I haven't had the privilege of trying it out with any success.

    If your ePSXe download doesn't come with the aforementioned plugins, here's some links for you;

    Pete's D3D plugins; http://www.pbernert.com/gpupete177.zip

    P.E.Op.S Soft Driver plugin; http://www.pbernert.com/gpupeopssoftwin118b.zip

    Pete's OpenGL2 plugin; http://www.pbernert.com/gpupeteogl209.zip

    Let me know if these work for you.

    Is that really the best?

    Woudln't a hex-core be better?

    Nevermind im fairly sure hex is 6 and for some reason he didn't say hex?

    There is sure to be an Octa-core out there that might be better.

    Pixels are going to be something that just happens on a larger monitor with older games. If you want to fix that, you'll have to mess with the Pixel Shaders, which I'm not at all familiar with, either. I'm sure there's a tutorial out there on it somewhere.

    As for "perfect configuration" for ePSXe, none exists. Depending on what game you're trying to play, you'll have to change around some of the graphics settings to get it to display perfectly as intended. For example, last time I checked, putting all the settings on max in Final Fantasy Tactics would make it impossible to see anything on the world map, while not having one of the settings on max makes other games unplayable. You can just hit the "Best" button in the plugin config for most games, but if something looks off you'll want to tweak it.

    $200 8 core. Arguably the most powerful desktop processor on the market.

    Also, the Opteron line is intended for use in servers, so... yeah.

    ^Yep, also this. While most popular games (or at least, the one's i've tried) work well enough & look good enough with the configurations I posted you may need to tweak them a bit depending on the game. Also note the "Special game fixes" option near the bottom; some games have serious issues these fixes can fix.
