Link is left-handed.

It was thought that it would feel weird to play for the majority of the population -- who are right-handed -- to wave the Wiimote with their right hand and have their character respond with the left.

So they flipped the image so that Link appears to be right-handed on the Wii version. As a result, if you had to turn left to get somewhere in the GCN version, you have to turn right to get to the same spot in the Wii version.

My Friend Pointed it out when he (who is left handed) was playing the Wii and then the GC versions.
I think it's a stroke of Genius.
Hope they'll just let the player hand preference control the placement of the sword.
