Uh, no. Spider man has a rather poor track record with movies. The only sorta passable one was the first one. And that was only "okay" in retrospect. I can't say the new one is looking too good. Hilariously I had a brief trailer discussion with some random bros who were sitting close by me concerning how much of a cluster fuck Parker's backstory is. The idea that they felt this would be an appropriate premise for a movie is somewhat mind boggling. About the only possible way this could get worse is if they play up the whole "the spider bite had nothing to do with anything, Parker was born a mutant" angle. Which always makes me want to give myself a concussion. Or maybe they go into surprise terrible territory when he starts sprouting claws again, developing wolverine-tier healing abilities, and dealing with clones. Or doing his Aqua man schtick.
Did I mention that Spider Man depresses me as a character nowadays?
Granted, the movie seems to have an okay visual style going and has at least something of an idea of the character's sense of humour. But I'm still feeling overly pessimistic about the whole thing. And why do I sense an impending cop out concerning Stacy? Spider sense, tingling!
Yes, yes she is. Hilariously she only dies because Spider Man fucked up hard.
Guess Parker should have taken a few physics classes instead of going hardcore into chemistry.
