Although I have to admit, I think I look pretty good with glasses. Me without glasses just looks... strange.

Well aren't you just Li'l Miss Privileged?
Mine is atrocious. I've been informed that I should really give some thought to surgery of some kind. It might be a good idea, seeing as my prescription isn't cheap and my head is large enough that it's almost impossible to find frames. I basically have to purchase based upon size. These had to be modified pretty heavily just to fit. I had to further resize them for comfort afterwards too. The actual frames stop partway past my ear. That's not a good thing.

IT'S BECAUSE ALL THESE NEWFANGLED APPLIANCES ARE RUINING OUR EYESIGHT.

Or it's because these days you actually need to be able to notice small details to do anything. It's pretty easy to get through a day without glasses when you don't have to read. The prevalence of literacy didn't hurt.

But what do I know. I sat too close to the TV.

Mine isn't that bad. I need them to drive, and I get a headache if I walk around outside without them for too long because everything is so blurry, but I could function in my day-to-day life provided I didn't have to cut meat or operate heavy machinery.

Also, I vaguely remember reading some optometrist's response to a list of "old wive's tales" or whatever, about how sitting too close to the TV can damage your eyesight. From what I remember, he said it was false, but that it can be an indication of near-sightedness.

Oh god, you should see the rage fits I try to avoid whenever I hear my idiotic, alcoholic stepfather telling my little brother he's too close to the TV when he's playing the Wii.

That's roughly what I've been getting with my new Internet as well. Sooooo happy. I think the highest I've managed was around 3.8, but I could be mistaken. It's a helluva lot better than that shitty motel Internet I was using for a while there.

I can also get around without them. I just tend to wear them frequently out of convenience. I do not with to be one of those people that has to frequently utter the phrase "hold on while I put on my glasses". The day I start doing that is the day I kill myself.

It can lead to severe eye strain though. But as for a connection between eye strain and poor eyesight, that's pretty vague. If we assume that they're related, you're just as likely to ruin your eyes by attending school or frequently staying up late. Or being constantly being exposed to artificial light. Or pretty much anything, really. So much wear and tear on the eyes.

My father used to complain that my constant use of videogames is responsible for my rather poor eyesight. Which is somewhat humorous when you consider my genetics.

Last I heard he was blind in one eye. Were I still in contact with him, I'd probably use this opportunity for some serious payback. Which I am told is quite the bitch.

Yeah this upgrade from 10Mbps to 30Mbps was free as well. I just had to pay a one off payment of £20 for the new router/modem/for it to be delivered.

I am OK with my new speed.
