I wouldn't say you're completely devoid of tact. I'd say it's really more about being open about your feelings. People who constantly hide their thoughts on something tend to be more problematic. Everything is fine until it isn't. And then you suddenly realize how stupid you are. Or maybe that's just me.
As for oblivious, I'd probably just mark it up to not knowing her as well as most currently do. I've been here for like 7 years now. It's purely experience talking, not perception. If I was capable of noticing all these factors from small details my life would be far, far easier. But I can't, so I often wind up causing hilarious misunderstandings.
