Trouble with Ys Book ISO

I suppose this is as good a place as any to ask for help: I recently downloaded the ISO for Ys Book I & II. It runs perfectly in magic engine, however, there's one particular part where I must talk to an NPC to enter a dungeon, and every time I talk to him, his last line of dialogue cuts out and the game freezes. I'm thinking I might have to dl'd a different ISO, but I'd like to hear some input on what might be wrong. Any info would be much obliged.

Alright, got a different ISO, and the same exact thing happened. Could it be an issue with magic engine? According to the specific build's specs, it has no compatibility issues with Ys Book I & II...I dunno. Help me, emuparadise forums; you're my only hope.
