The news channel said that it was an "unusual" move for the FBI to make, to use this friend's website and that program and stuff... I'd just keep safe if I were you. Don't trust anyone! In high school, I had a teacher who would say to the class, "Don't trust your teachers!"
    There is nothing to install.

I do enjoy the dumb dumbs who don't read the part they don't install anything. They do scan though, so that is the only concern you would ever have. Plus, if you are willing to put on your tin foil hat, they can install hidden files and you wouldn't be the wiser.

    They don't necessarily scan either.
They just see if you're able are properly directed to IPs. Its no different than going to a different web site and if you see their big green picture, you're fine.

That is a form of scanning, I guess you are assuming I meant scan your computer.

Whether or not it scans or even inspects your traffic, I still doubt the legitimacy of it all. Has anyone actually gotten a red screen yet?

It is kind of important since you have to remind people so many times what it doesn't do and razzed me a little. I haven't tried it because I don't really care and all my data is backed up, and ready for a reinstall of the OS if I am infected.

This. I can set aside an hour to reinstall my OS if the Mayans are right about my 2012 Internet.

Im not worried about my data, I would be concerned to lose internet though.
From what I understand, the DNS or the way you contact your DNS will be compromised. That could potentially allow for the hackers to redirect any site you access. If that were true, then you would lose internet becuas of your own fault and the Govt would have nothing to do with it.
On the other hand, if your DNS is infected (which can simply not happen since you will just use another automatically if anything happens) then the Govt would shut down one of the DNS's. Again, you would just start using another one...so its totally bull.

Just tested mine while hiding behind a proxy and I was Green...
hmm Proxy used and no DNS changers detected something don't add up there.

It may have something to do with the fact that a)proxies don't necessarily change DNS info depending on setup and b) if its a full proxy setup, the site is never going to see a damned thing about whats happening on your side of the proxy server - which itself is a very different setup to someone compromising a DNS setup.

One thing that bothers me about some of these hackers is they don't really do anything productive. Taking down peoples' computers for what? It does not seem that fun to me. I guess if they had a real end goal that meant something I could understand.
