These goddamned work shifts are going to be the death of me. Two random grave yard shifts in the middle of my afternoon/morning shifts.

Just did two days of 8AM-430PM, worked 2AM-1030AM this morning, slept all day, back at work for 12PM tomorrow, then two days off, then four days of 8AM shifts.

No wonder my sleep is so fucked up.

Yeah, my body clock was fucked up for years even after I got away from rotating shifts.
Some people just shouldn't be doing that stuff to themselves, apparently.

If I could find a job where I didn't have to do rotating schedules, I would.

My problem now is it's almost 3AM and I'm wide awake. If I try and stay up until a semi reasonable time tomorrow, I'm going to be exhausted by the time my shift starts. If I try and go to sleep around 7AM or so, I'll be wide awake all night again tomorrow. I really just can't win at this point.

I'm thinking I'm going to go grab a coffee and play KOA until I pass out. Maybe if I'm really lucky they'll cancel my shift, since the only reason I'm working tomorrow is to cover for a guy who had his foot stepped on by a horse. If he shows up for work tomorrow, I don't have to go.

I had a few jobs of 8 hour reverse rotations.......and one of 12 hour rotations

One particular job I had at the end of my "shift work era" actually wasn't bad at all.
A couple of days (random) of short shifts 8am - 2pm during the week, and then 2 later shifts on the weekend (Friday, Saturday or Sunday night).
Maintenance at a ten-pin bowling alley (that also had some coinop machines, and I had the keys of course).......pity it was crap money, it was good other than that

My father was a shift worker for the first 15 years of my life. 12 hour shifts, every couple of weeks he would switch from nights to days, then after a couple more weeks he would switch back. Even when I was ten years old I could see how much it was fucking with him.

I usually work two 8 hour shifts, then a couple of 4-5 hour shifts during a week. I rarely work more than 30 hours in a week, although this week I have at least 32, maybe even 37 if the guy doesn't show up tomorrow and I have to go in. That's really rare for me. 24 hours a week working four days is pretty standard.

I'm getting paid for 24 hours work on Friday, which is good because it works out at almost my full wage anyway. I missed almost a full week you see.

Also I'm fucking knackered. God damn jobs, making you work!
