Well after hackers are done with it and they come up with a few games that I'm actually interested in I might waste a whole 80 bucks on it but until then. No, its not worth it.
Yeah I'm still getting into the PSP that I barely ever play. I was thinking that it would be cool if the Vita could handle Netflix though.
Edit: I guess it does. I don't think I really want one; but that is a good selling point.
I really wanted to get this one on day one, but I'm low on cash. I'm gonna wait until either a bunch of quality games are released for it, or it gets hacked. But man, I wish I could afford it right now, DO WANT!

I want to try and pick up a Vita with low firmware when I get the chance. Disgaea 3 Return is the only Vita game I know I will buy. I've heard Uncharted: Golden Abyss is much better than Uncharted 3, so I have mild interest in that. A Phantasy Star and Ys game would be enough to push me over the edge .

no psvita is compatible with psp umd'sHell no; not until a few hardware revisions and the price of the memory cards go down (or they come up with adapters that allow me to use cheaper ones). And maybe not even then, considering they're giving everybody not in Japan the middle finger when it comes to backwards compatibility with UMDs.
i'm getting one as soon as Gravity Rush is released :3 can't wait.
Let your cosmo burn bright!
Over in Japan, they have a program in place where you can basically send your old UMDs to Sony, and they'll give you a discount on re-purchasing the title via digital distribution. They have publicly stated that they won't be doing that in North America.

What now?
You don't physically send Sony your UMDs.
http://andriasang.com/comyxo/1. You download a software from PSN that allows you to register your UMD
2. In the menu of the app "UMD Registration", you insert the UMD you want to register into the PSP
3. Then you pay about X yen to allow the transfer it's simple as that
I've still got plenty of games to play on my DS Lite and PSP 3000, so it'll be a long time before I buy a Vita. Who needs the latest tech when there's so many good, cheaper alternatives?
Or you can just hack it and transfer your UMD dumps.

Ah. I never really bothered looking up the logistics of it, since I don't own, or plan on ever owning, a PSP or PSV. That was just the original plan I remember from when the PSP-Go came out and they were talking about a similar endeavour. The principles of the process are the same, though.
