Buys an older Xbox from eBay, takes the Thomson drive from that and puts it into the Crystal Xbox. All works perfectly on that end now.
Put the Samsung drive into the old Xbox that came today and try it out of curiosity. It reads discs perfectly. So now I have 3 softmodded Xboxes all in perfect working condition.

And they're so old and low spec that you can pretty much run them if you can even see the internet.

i dunno whenever i play old games i feel like they should be played on their respective console ( i still have a psx a ps2 and gbc gbadvance for example) if i can't find a way to play them in the console i guess as a last resort i would turn to the pc
