The port of Doom Legacy for original Xbox (softmodded) was awesome. It was like zDoom explained above. You could look up and down, even jump (if you wanted to) also added lighting effects which really did make the game look better. As well as a custom WAD selection screen, multi-player deathmatch with bots and 2-player split-screen co-op. Definitely one of the best DOOM source ports out there.
I have a torrent of it posted over at UG with a bunch of custom WADs included.
Gonna get a drink of milk then fuck off to bed.![]()
I don't remember really hating any levels of the original game. I fucking despised the entire episode of Thy Flesh Consumed when they rereleased it on disc in... 1998? 1999? I can't remember the year. But that episode was fucking hard. I don't think I ever beat it legit.
Almost makes me wish I had a softmodded Xbox, because that sounds rad.
If I remember right, I beat the first two legit. Took me about two weeks, constantly saving as soon as I was in a semi-decent position. And I ran past a lot of enemies. I also wasn't playing on Ultra Violent (... was that what the second highest difficulty was called? The one right before Nightmare, because fuck Nightmare) like I usually do. I think I was on "Hurt Me Plenty" or something like that. God, I can't even remember what the difficulties were called.
I've thought about it, but with how engrossed I am with my PS3 right now, it would be a waste of money.
I'm definitely keeping it an option when I get tired of PS3 games, though, since there are only a few games each year that come out that actually interest me, and eventually I'll catch up on all the games that have already been released that I want to play.
Well, time to work on some sprites I suppose.![]()
