You'll learn far more about customer service from actually working and interacting with customers than you will from a lecturer in a classroom, though. In your situation I'd be inclined to choose gaining experience over a qualification the job centre are pushing you to do in order to keep their quotas up.

Well ideally I want to do both.

Job centre aren't forcing me into this course at all, I found the place and arranged it myself.
