Want to start collecting American versions of games for one 16-bit console because I'm selling all my stuff and it seems like a good time to switch. Can't decide between Genesis and SNES.

    SNES
    Pros:
Number of American games currently owned = 6.
Better exclusives. Much loved console I grew up with.
    Already own Zelda and FF3.
    Cons:
Would have to buy an American console or mutilate my current one.
Cost of additional games = expensive.
Would have to sell most of my collection and buy it back in NTSC format.
Have already played most of the games I would want. Cannot afford to buy the rest. :/

    Mega Drive/Genesis
    Pros:
    Can possibly mod existing console.
Number of American games currently owned = 16.
Cost of additional games = cheap.
Better versions of multi platform games.
    BLAST PROCESSING.
Can play most of my games already and can build a new collection from scratch.
The majority of the library is new to me, which is good.
Contra Hard Corps > Contra Alien Wars.
    Cons:
    No Mega Man X. :/
    No Zelda. :/
    No Killer Instinct. :/

Virgin Media are increasing everyone's connection speeds. And so are BT.

BT are going to be offering "Up to 80mbps" but if you're not in a fibre optic area you'll still be lucky to pull in ~4mbps off their shitty copper wires.

    Death to ADSL!

If/when you go back to the US you'll be able to get loads of good games at the Thrift stores. Plus they always have old consoles as well, so you'll get a Genesis and NTSC SNES no problem?

Gonna be nice having 20meg again. I had that speed back in 2008-2009 when it was Virgin's highest speed. Their highest is now 120meg. Oh how times have changed.

I did look when I was there because I was super excited to get some old games but none of them had any. The oldest thing I found was a $30 PS2. Damn Jazz getting my hopes up.

@Cosmic: Depends where you were but I've found loads of thrift and garage sale deals. And yeah SNES collecting is brutal, esp if you want CIB.

But yeah I want to stick with one 16 bit console and I can't decide which. I'm leaning towards Genesis but I don't know if I'll suddenly miss having a SNES.

Out of the two I suppose I would go with the Megadrive as it's the one I played the most.

Sonic, Streets of Rage, Kid Chameleon, etc.

SNES I hardly played any games on. I guess the Megadrive was the more popular console for us to own.

In other news, the wanker that bought the Final Fantasy games from me on Ebay still hasn't paid yet. I don't want to have to re-list. *sigh*

But eh, I don't really have any love for the 16bit generation of games as I'm sure you all know because I keep stating it.

Gimme a Playstation, Saturn or N64 any day.
