Many old games are shit. It's easy to pick out some of the better ones because you know what they are and it might have been mostly what you played. But when you look at the entire library of a console like the NES, SNES, PS1, Genesis etc...well it's just as bad percentage wise.

Definitely. You see this all the time when some random old game is declared a "flawless masterpiece".

The most common are probably the FF-related ones. "FF started sucking after VI" or "FF has been going downhill since the PSX era" and so on, I'm sure we've all seen it. The horrified reactions when I declare that XII is my favorite in the entire franchise (or that X-2 wasn't utter shit) are priceless, though.
