Ah shit, midway through watching the Abyss my PS3 has given in and now has the red light of death. It's an old model PS3 (bought in the summer of 07) and the hard drive seek times have been getting progressively worse so I think the hard drive is at fault, now it won't even boot. :/

Anyone got any opinions on it?

It it won't boot, probably it's the internal hardware. You need to bin it, I think.

I'm tending towards the hard drive being broken though and if it is I could replace it for less than buying a new one.

I just remember hating how ME didn't have the option to restart in DOS Mode. I never had any major problems with the OS in general but that always pissed me off. It was like they took 98, removed half the features, smacked it with a hammer a few times and sold it as a new version of Windows.

Pretty much this, for me. I never ran into any huge problems with ME. Don't remember too many BSODs either, 'cept for virus induced ones from being a horny teenage idiot. I knew there was probably something better out there, but ME never really gave me too many problems.
